The statue currently occupies a position behind the Royal Garrison Church having been originally placed at Hyde Park Corner in London, moving to Aldershot in 1885.   Aldershot offers extensive amenities: supermarkets, restaurants, Bingo, high street shopping, and the new Westgate Leisure Park, a great destination for dining, shopping and cinema.
